Interior Intimo Meo

In his Confessions,
St. Augustine captured God’s nearness
in three simple words:
interior intimo meo.

Roughly translated, they mean,
“You are closer to me
than I am to myself.”

God’s love is close.
Closer to us than
the thoughts in our heads,
the breath in our lungs,
the blood in our veins.

That’s what I’m looking for
every day.
